Of course, every keyword and long tailed keyword, depending upon it's popularity will have a number of searches made for those keyword/s per month. 

By using certain tools it is possible to quickly ascertain with some accuracy, exactly how many people are using particular search engine word/s queries per month, to find exactly what they are looking for.  Where competition for certain keywords is exceptionally high, that is other websites competing against yours for that exact term, sometimes it is better to leave those keywords out altogether in favour of search query terms which have a much lower number of competing websites going for them and using them. 

This would allow the website owner a much greater and increased chance of getting that cherished major search engine's first position, and receiving higher amounts of subsequent traffic as a result.

A long tailed keyword is simply 2 or more keywords used together.

Ideally, you want to be using keywords which have over 500 searches per month, the higher the number the better.

As for the number of competing websites vying to use a particular keyword / long tailed keyword, you want this number to ideally be under 200,000 - the lower the number the better. 

If you can get this number to less than 50,000 the chances of you getting that all important First Position on the major search engines is of course very much higher.  If you get the number one position on the major search engines for a keyword/s, chances are that you will receive well over 95% of that traffic, since most people will always click on the top, first result displayed first.

For example, a particular keyword / long tailed keyword receives 2,500 searches per month, that is people looking for exactly what they are typing in to the search engine and for that keyword you get into the number one position, often referred to as Google One, chances are that you will receive from this very popular search engine alone very close to 2,500 visitors, each of which will potentially be very interested directly in your business, product or service. 

If you carry out the right keyword research and rank in the First Position for each of these, of course you will depending on the keywords chosen, be naturally driving a very large number of directly interested individuals to your website.  It is then up to your site to close the deal, once these visitors land on your homepage.

At the outset on this page, we asked a question or two about the concept of funnel marketing and how it could directly help you to drive more visitors to your main website, which in turn will drive up your bottom line, your profitability, your ROI.

By having more than one website, you can afford to experiment a little bit more upon these extra websites, with your keyword choices.

We recommend that on any extra website you target no more than 4 long tailed keywords, that you are currently not targeting with your main website. 

We make sure that each of the long tailed keywords receives over 500 searches per month individually and that the number of competing websites vying for position with this long tailed keyword is under 200,000 - this will greatly increase your chances of getting that all important Number One Position on the search engines, for that long tailed keyword that you are in this instance, targeting.

Your extra website can now be considered to be a satellite minisite of your main website.  Text is added to this new satellite minisite, using the correct keyword density of your chosen long tailed keywords, in the body of the main text on the front homepage and within, if more than a single page site. (i.e. a 2-5 page satellite minisite) 

Of course the domain name for this new satellite minisite will also be made up of one of the long tailed keywords to further increase the chance of getting to the top of the search engine results, the tagline also will contain this long tailed keyword.  The first sentence on the new satellite minisite will also contain this long tailed keyword. 

All of these measures will gain for you, a very much higher chance of getting that Google One or search engine first position, Number One placement. 

That is the ultimate goal, to replicate and repeat this as many times as feasibly possible!

The text / body of content will of course be written very well, shedding an excellent positive light on your business, product or service and at the end of the body of content, there will be a paragraph which acts as a Direct Call To Action on the part of the website visitor, compelling them to really want to find out more about you.

They can do this by clicking on a very prominant link on the satellite minisite which will take them straight to your main website.
